Values at Risk spatial database, Fine-scale spatial database of individual structures in Colorado’s Front Range wildland-urban interface areas. This database will assist managers to improve wildfire mitigation and incident management planning. The database will contribute to a better understanding of the demographics of the wildland-urban interface and will be combined with the spatial location and attributes of interagency fuel treatments across the front range of Colorado. High Park Fire: County Regulations and Home Loss report evaluating how compliance with county regulations impacted home loss during the High Park Fire. County regulations which required defensible space and fire resistant construction had minimal effect on reducing home loss during the fire, which may have resulted from lack of maintenance or unknown defensive actions by firefighting resources.
Poudre Valley FPD: Facilitated Learning Analysis Mike Czaja assisted the Poudre Fire Authority conduct the Facilitated Learning Analysis for the 2012 High Park Fire. Working with Battalion Chief Kelly Close, Mike participated in over 20 key personnel interviews and helped develop the lessons learned analysis. The fire authority adopted several of the report’s recommendations for enhancing wildland fire operations.
